GRAMOTTHAN AN ULTIMATE DESTINATION
Ekal is a story of the people, who dreamt and accepted with strong belief that without Education, Education & Education alone, we cannot succeed in the concept of “GRAM SWARAJYA” of Mahatama Gandhi.
The story flashed back in the year 1988, with the idea of “single teacher school” from a tiny village Bishunpur in Gumla District in Jharkhand (previously in Bihar) to findout a solution to the problem of illiteracy in Vanvashi& Tribal villages.
The idea was conceived into an initiative in 1986 – 1989 and thus started the journey of Ekal and 60 such schools in 60 villages nearby RatanpurTundi in Dhanbad District started. Thus came the slogam “ChaloGaon Ki AurHameDesh Banana Hai”
Thus after over 27 years it became a big movement as “EKAL ABHIYAN” with six steps to accomplish the ultimate goal of all inclusive and self sustained development in “Tribal and Rural Bharat”. Under Rural Development Education, the purpose is to have the “Holistic Development of the whole village” in a self sustained manner, with Cow Based Agriculture and Agriculture Based Cottage Industry.
GRAMOTTHAN – OBJECTIVES :
- To facilitate the process of self-reliant Village, based on the model of “GRAM SWARAJYA”.
- To facilitate awareness that the Rural Youth can earn their livelihood in the same village.
- To create facilities for “Skill Development of Rural & Tribal Youths”
- To make them able for “Rural Entrepreneurship”.
As per new guidelines of “Ministry of Human Resource Development”, a new department of Skill Development of Entrepreneurship has been created. It will ensure a speedy and quality training to India's youth and making them more employable. It will be carved out of 21 Ministries dealing with the Central Skill Development Programme focused on the Prime Minister Mantra of 3S, Scale, Speed and Skill. The programme will target massive skill up-gradation of the youth, who studies, but are not competitive in the job market due to poor training.
The scope under Gramothan seems tremendous and this vertical can certainly be self- sustained within five years of operations. Some of the features of this model are :-
GRAMOTHAN ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
Now to raise resources for man-power as well as money-power, we will have to expand our activities independently. In the urban areas separate chapter activity will be formed to raise funds and to advise “Gram Samitees” for proper monitoring and functioning at different GRCs, as per the plan and targets decided by the Central Team.
With the same view it has been decided that a separate identity to this important objective may be given under a separate trust i.e. “EKAL GRAMOTHAN FOUNDATION” for its role and progress in due time.
